Software as a service (SaaS)

Software providers make their programs and applications available over the internet.

What is software as a service?

The idea behind software as a service, or SaaS for short, was born with the advent of cloud computing. It is a licensing and delivery model in which users use an Internet link to rent programs and applications. In practice, it very often involves software subscriptions, downloads of important documents, or access to external content. The service provider is also responsible for updating and managing the software and content. The main advantage for users is that it frees them from having to build their own IT infrastructure. Wirecard also uses SaaS to provide some of its payment solutions.
