Thomas Cook opts for Wirecard
Payment processing for www.lufthansaholidays.com / Payment acceptance for global credit card brands
Wirecard AG is supporting Thomas Cook’s credit card acceptance with its payment page. The Oberursel/Germany-based travel operator offers dynamically packaged travel via the www.lufthansaholidays.com portal, which went live with the ITB 2012. Payment for travel packages, comprising hotels and flights, and other services if required, can be made comfortably and securely using a credit card on the Wirecard Payment Page.
As one of the leading operators in Europe, Thomas Cook spans the entire spectrum of tourism services for various target groups. Customers can combine their Lufthansa flights with a broad hotel offering from Thomas Cook with the new online offering www.lufthansaholidays.com, and thus put together their own individual vacation at up-to-the-minute prices. The portfolio comprises more than 140 airports and around 8,000 hotels in 1,000 attractive vacation locations around the world.
As soon as customers have put together their trip on www.lufthansaholidays.com, they are transferred for payment to the PCI-certified Wirecard Payment Page, which is structured to look and feel like the portal. If bookings are made by e-mail or telephone, an employee inputs the data manually using Wirecard’s virtual terminal. The payment specialist’s automated processes allow smooth processing of the requisite advance payment by credit card and also the required payment of the remaining amount.
Jan Rübel, Head of Sales Travel & Transportation at Wirecard AG noted: “With our financial platform, we offer customers a scalable software solution, which can be smoothly integrated into legacy systems, offering maximum security. The fact that Thomas Cook has chosen to use our services shows that we exactly meet operators’ needs with our offering.”
Wirecard AG offers many industry and customer-specific, coordinated payment and risk management systems for the travel industry. These include BSP special solutions for airlines, integrating payment solutions into booking and mid/back-office systems, as well as integrated risk management to avoid payment defaults and subsequent process costs.
