It is one of the largest land transport companies in the world, with a global business portfolio including, but not limited to, bus, taxi, rail and car rental, as well as being Singapore’s largest taxi operator with more than 17,000 cabs.

Key Challenges

ComfortDelgro previously conducted clearance and settlement processes for credit card transactions via an in-house payment gateway.

This approach includes a number of challenges, such as managing the settlement process for thousands of in-taxi payment terminals, creating a great deal of laborious financial work.

Seeking to improve operational efficiency, ComfortDelgro was looking for an established payment service provider to provide a new solution to replace its in-house payment gateway.

Solution

Wirecard proposed a new payment processing solution to support ComfortDelgro in its efforts to automate its payment processes and to carry out card payment transactions for all its Comfort and CityCab taxi services.

The key features supported by Wirecard’s payment platform were tailored to the taxi company’s unique business and operational needs, including:

  • High availability for payment processing
  • Automatic reconciliation services for settlement, synchronized with taxi-specific information
  • Offline transaction capability that enables in-taxi card payment transactions to be processed even when there is no network connection
  • Payment acceptance for a complete range of card types, including all major credit card brands, Singapore’s stored-value transport card EZ-Link and additional payment types, such as corporate cards (Cabcharge card and eVoucher)

  • A flexible platform that can be easily configured and adapted to meet requirements at any time, enabling quick and simple integration into the customer’s existing front and back offices
  • A sophisticated reporting function for all card transactions from various payment acceptance points such as the taxi’s EDC terminal, web-based MOTO and e-Commerce, in a single platform
  • Wirecard provides operational control and monitoring of the payment system and ensures the system is maintained in compliance with the latest security and payment industry standards.

With the payment management solution from Wirecard, ComfortDelgro immediately derived the following key benefits:

  • Increased cashless transactions in Comfort’s taxis made a contribution to a year-on-year revenue increase
