The technology and financial services provider Wirecard has found a new partner for the Wirecard Checkout Portal in opentabs GmbH, a provider of innovative applications for food and hospitality venues. The opentabs app connects the establishment directly with the patron and allows them to both order and make cashless payment via their smartphone. Direct debit and credit cards are payment methods integrated into Wirecard Checkout Portal www.checkoutportal.com.
“By integrating cashless payment options, our app is even more diverse and allows impulse purchases to be made. Integration via the Wirecard Checkout Portal was completed very quickly and easily,” comments Dirk Röder, Managing Director of opentabs. “We were particularly impressed by the options to adapt the payment methods at any time and add further services in future.”
The principle of opentabs’s mobile order & pay: the user downloads the free iOS or Android app to their smartphone. They then store their chosen payment method and select a personal identification number (PIN). The user can currently choose from credit card or SEPA direct debit as payment methods via the seamlessly integrated Wirecard Checkout Portal. The sensitive payment data is not stored in the app, but on Wirecard’s secure server. The smartphone localises the user’s location by GPS and displays appropriate restaurant options. At present, the app includes a major burger chain and many German restaurant and bars including dean&david, San Francisco Coffee Company and Kaimug.
Christian Reindl, Executive Vice President Sales Consumer Goods at Wirecard: “The integration of the Wirecard Checkout Portal in the opentabs application demonstrates our flexibility. The payment page can be integrated into online shops and apps, as required. This makes what we offer particularly interesting for innovative start-ups.”
