With the Payment Card Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) a binding security standard was set for companies that accept credit cards as means of payments.
In this context Wirecard Bank is responsible to account for the compliance of the authorised dealers with PCI DSS to the credit card organisations.
Verification results from the correct completion of the standardised questionnaire by the merchants. There are four different questionnaires, which differ in the number of questions, as each merchant has a different IT infrastructure.
The questionnaire, requiring statements on the security of the relevant IT systems, has been provided on the Internet Platform (PCI DSS Platform) and prepared to keep the answering of the questions as simple and efficient as possible.
Special attention was placed on simple handling and high user friendliness when designing the PCI DSS Platform. Only the following steps are required:Registration with the Wirecard Bank PCI DSS Platform free of charge
- confirmation of the e-mail address
- registration with the Wirecard Bank PCI DSS Platform
- selection of the applicable questionnaire
- completion of the questionnaire
- retrieval of the “confirmation of compliance”The questionnaire must be completed anew once a year. A new registration, however, is not required.
In the event that credit card data is processed on own systems, which can be accessed via the Internet, additional scans for PCI weak spots must be performed regularly and successfully. Merchants who accept credit cards are able to meet the requirements of the credit card organisation by means of the Wirecard Bank PCI DSS Platform.
